Viljust M tablets is a medication used in the therapeutics of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus; a chronic metabolic disease construed by a high level of blood sugar (Hyper-glycemia) over a protracted timeframe.
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces i.e., the cells stop responding and using the insulin effectively, thus hindering the body to take up glucose into its cells and use it for energy, resulting in the built up of excess sugar in the bloodstream leading to serious health complications.
Viljust M helps prevent complications arising due to uncontrolled hyper-glycemia, leading to serious consequences causing impairment to your body's organs and tissues. Ailments associated with diabetes include: cardiovascular disease, Stroke, chronic kidney, foot ulcers, neuropathy, nephropathy, cognitive impairment etc.
DIRECTION FOR USAGE
Viljust M tablets should be taken, based on the dosage and duration prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tab as a whole with a glass of water. Kindly, refrain from crushing and chewing the tablet.
Viljust M tablets should be taken with food to avoid an upset stomach and preferably,
at the same time of the day, each time, along with healthy diet and exercise for best results.
SIDE EFFECTS
Consumption of Viljust M tablets may cause certain after effects in some cases, such as hypo-glycemia, dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, quivering, joint pain, swollen hands, feet or ankle etc. temporarily, it normally fades away gradually without the need for medical attention, however, in rare cases, if the symptoms persist or worsens over time, notify the doctor without further delay.
SAFETY, INTERACTION & PRECAUTIONS
Viljust M tablets should not be used in patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus or with Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Also, be cautious and inform the doctor about any other medicinal allergies and concurrent intake of medicines and pain killers (Prescribed, Non-Prescribed and other health supplements, etc) for any Liver, Kidney or other Comorbidities prior to using the same.
Viljust M tablets are not recommended during pregnancy unless prescribed by the doctor, as it may cause congenital disabilities (birth defects) or while breastfeeding. Refrain from consumption in additional and longer than the prescribed dosage and duration and also avoid stopping the tablets on your own.
Viljust M tablets are unsafe to consume along with alcohol and also may cause
drowsiness, therefore, desist from driving.
STORAGE
Viljust M tablets must be stored in a cool and dry place, protected from moisture and sunlight, away from reach of children and pets.
MODE OF ACTION
Viljust M tablets offers a combination of Vildagliptin and Metformin.
- Vildagliptin belongs to a class of drug known as Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 (DPP – 4) inhibitors, they help pancreas to release more insulin after meals and also lower the amount of glucose released by the liver, thereby, reducing both Fasting and Postprandial sugar levels.
- Metformin belongs to a class of drug known as Biguanides, works by Reducing the amount of glucose the liver produces, improves how insulin works in the body, and slows down the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose.
